This article made me think about how many animals I've had in my life, and how many times I do watch them intently, both in the "wild" and elsewhere. Read the article, and leave a thoughtful comment, and you may earn yourself some extra credit points for sharing your thoughts on this.
http://aeon.co/magazine/nature-and-cosmos/why-humans-evolved-to-love-watching-animals/ At about 2:00 am (EDT) on April 15, which is about 11 pm April 14th for us West Coast earthly inhabitants, we will see the first of four total lunar eclipses on the nights of the full moons in April and October, 2014, and in April and September, 2015. Learn more about it here.
Here is something to think about. I am thinking that we could save ourselves some ink and money by encouraging the Modern Language Association (MLA) to change its required font to Garamond too. Thoughts?
So here begins Spring Break. I am currently working on a few different items for classes (and yes, it is only 7 am on the first day of Spring Break 2014). I will end this break with three days in SoCal at a union conference, but for now, I am sandwiched between my two warm dogs on the sofa, thinking about how to build this blog into an ongoing communication portal. I am also questioning the efficacy of Edmodo now that I am using the new Weebly website, and wondering if this might be a better way to add content to converse about.
Let me know what you think. I am going to email this link to you via your district email, and if you log on and comment at any point during the break, I will kick 5 extra credit points your way. Comment on the above, and also let me know what you are up to on your break. Remember that you are also supposed to be working on your English content, both class novel and ORP. :) Take it easy, all, and see you in about 9 days or so. Oh, and as a bonus? You may still earn 5 *extra* Extra Credit points by commenting on the first blog post below, from February. And one more thing: consider using Wordle.com to create a visual of your poet's work (AmLit 11), or your biography content (HE9), by using the text to highlight recurring words...the one below is made up of five of e. e. cummings's poems. Just saw this. February is traditionally Black History Month, so I guess that this could be in honor of that, but mostly it is in honor of human perserverance in the face of adversity. A solid paragraph, with no spelling nor grammar errors will earn the most points. Points may be earned every two weeks.
