Because of this occurence, thoughts have spilled over about how Americans have treated the environment in the past and what the consequence of that is today. Especially in the 1950s and after, we have seen an impact on our environment from the actions of people. These actions, as said in the article, were done for amusement. "The Pioneer Cabin tree was one of several “tunnel trees” that had been carved out and served as human amusements,"(McCann 2). From this quote, I realized that nature should not be used for human amusement. One of the last of the sequoia cave trees fell to the ground like a plane on a runway because of humanity's desire for amuesment. Nature should be a thing that pleases the eye and senses. Instead, nature is used for the fun of people.
