I've been wondering about this for years. Apparently there IS another novel written by Harper Lee, and it is pretty close to what I would have imagined as a "sequel" to To Kill a Mockingbird." However, according to this report, Harper Lee wrote it before she wrote TKAM.

It is interesting to really think about how Harper Lee is being quoted, while when most of us read, our immediate thought would be "Atticus Finch is a profound and insightful character." Every character in To Kill a Mockingbird embodies Lee's beliefs and positions in life, and it's almost as if different sections or opinions of her mind become different characters in her novel.

I'm excited for Lee's to read "sequel" because the To Kill a Mockingbird was such an eye-opening story that really brought into perspective life back then and how people treated each other and their whole society in general. Harper Lee's choice of writing the book through the eyes of a little girl and having her perspective of her situation grow as she matures and realizes whats going on in her world.

I am personally very excited to see what Harper Lee's new novel is like. I want to see how much different it is from To Kill a Mockingbird, and if it deals with the same issues. The book had warmth and humor, but also had to deal with rape and racial inequality. I think it revealed what the world is truly like, and really me me think in a different kind of way. People in the book were treated horribly, much like Of Mice and Men. I believe this novel could be immediately successful, just like To Kill a Mockingbird. I loved the book and I'm so excited to see what Harper Lee writes this time!

I would love to read this "sequel" to To Kill a Mockingbird. To Kill a Mockingbird seemed to end sort of suddenly and unfinished. I would love to know what happens to Scout, Jem, and Atticus after the trial and after they know about Boo Radley. It would be very interesting to compare and contrast the characters and how they are treated between the two novels. I am very excited to find out about this new book written by Harper Lee

Thank you for sharing the news that Harper Lee will release another novel this July! When I read, "To Kill a Mocking Bird," I found Harper Lee's style of writing to be a little dark and heavy, since she wrote about critical issues dealing with inequality, rape and racism. Harper Lee's overall writing style was enjoyable, but it was the evil realities of what she wrote about that provoked deeper thought. I am curious to see what themes will present in this next novel, "Go Set a Watchman," as you stated that it was written before,"To Kill a Mockingbird."

Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. I would really like to see how Harper Lee's dark, mysterious carries into another book. I personally enjoyed TKAM very much and want to read "Go Set a Watchman" . It would also be interesting to compare and contrast how the characters change from book to book.

Wow, never would I have guessed that Harper Lee wrote a second novel! I think this novel should be more publicized than it already is, because it is a work of one of the most treasured authors of the 20th century.

I would definitely like to read this "sequel" to "To Kill A Mocking Bird". I would like to see how much the experiences the characters had gone through changed there outlook on life and how people should act toward one another. I notice how TKAM reflects what Harper Lee thinks. I am curious to see if when she wrote the other novel her outlooks were different and how different that made the characters. I liked TKAM and the message it portrayed. I can't wait to read and find out the feel and the message of this new book.
