Maya Angelou wisdom! 2 mins that will change your life! "Be a rainbow in somebody's cloud!"

In yesterday's freshmen classes, we listened to Dr. Maya read "On the Pulse of Morning" at President Clinton's inauguration ceremony. Always a favorite moment of mine to share with students. Here she delivers an important message from which we can all benefit. Be the rainbow in someone's cloud today.

Ms. O'Connor, this may just be my new favorite video ever. I'm absolutely in love with "be a rainbow in someone else's cloud." I especially like when Dr. Maya says to be a blessing even if someone eats a different dish, speaks a different language, dances a different dance, looks different or is different. That is so powerful. So often we are judged and judge on how we look, our religion or ethnicity. It is ridiculous how one can think it is okay to treat someone differently because of their clothes, wealth, religion and race. Angelous message in this is to be kind to everybody, no matter how different they are from you, because you don't know what they're going through.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, Jordan. I tend to agree with you fully, as I love just about everything Dr. Maya gave to us, the world.
