ERWC @ PHSGreetings,
I am pleased to be teaching ERWC 12 for our PHS seniors this year. All information about the class is contained in our Google Classroom. If you are a parent, please contact me if you need specific information about the course or your student's performance. All students are expected to access and submit their work in Google Classroom. Parents/guardians can add themselves to their students' Google Classroom so as to receive updates and notifications regarding what is assigned and when it is due.
Se espera que todos los estudiantes accedan y presenten el trabajo en Google Classroom. Los padres / tutores pueden agregarse al Aula de Google de sus alumnos para recibir actualizaciones y notificaciones sobre lo que se asigna y cuándo se debe. What is the ERWC?
The Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC), is a full-year college preparatory English course for high school seniors. The ERWC aligns with the California Common Core State Standards, addresses critical reading and writing problems identified by the CSU English Placement Test Committee, and prepares students to meet the expectations of college and university academics. Course assignments are organized into several modules and are based largely on non-fiction texts. These modules emphasize the in-depth study of expository, analytical, and argumentative reading and writing. The University of California has approved the ERWC for area "b" credit (from the "a-g" requirements), and the course meets college preparatory requirements for both UC and CSU institutions. A significant number of incoming freshmen in the CSU system alone are currently required to take remedial English courses due to the lack of proper preparation for university level reading and writing. The goal of the ERWC is to effectively prepare students for the rigorous levels of both reading and writing that will be expected of them while attending college. Go here for more information about the class requirements and expectations. |
